November 18, 2013
Princeton Cemetery Commission
Meeting – Monday November 18, 2013
Town Hall Annex
Minutes
            December 16, 2013

Present: Lou Trostel, Lynne Grettum, Paul Constantino

The meeting was convened at 7:15 pm

Superintendent Job Search
Our one candidate Fred Green has notified us that he has accepted another job and therefore is no longer interested in the Superintendent position. Next steps? We could try advertizing the position again in the Landmark and on the town web site. Try these in January.

Lot Buy Back Program
A note of clarification – this is not a “program” but an opportunity.

Operations
Bruce reported that all the cemeteries have been cleaned up for the year.
The cemeteries are closed for the winter.
There were no sales and no burials in the past month.
Odd vehicles in the cemeteries are a problem for Bruce. The commission voted unanimously to adopt the regulation “Only vehicles on cemetery business are allowed in the cemeteries”.
If the vehicles are involved in inappropriate activity, Bruce will speak to them. If they persist, the town police should be called.
The number of cremation burials per lot was discussed. Lynne will survey the practices in other towns.
The trees in South are OK
The road in Parker 2 is OK
Suggestions for Parker 1 include cultivate a more grassy cover and improve the entrance stairs.
At West, the entrance pillars have been straightened. The new gates are not finished yet.
The mapping software would help Bruce establish lot locations. Bruce will check out its availibity.

Weekend Burials Policy
Sunday burials were discussed. There have been no requests for Sunday burials in the last 5 years. Such a request if received would not particularly bother Bruce.
To clarify the operations policy, the commission voted unanimously for the following two regulations: a.  “There will be no Sunday burials.”
                     b. “There will be a surcharge of $200 for burials after 1 pm on Saturday.”

Budget planning for next year
We should begin our planning for next year at our December meeting.

The next meeting of the Cemetery Commission will be Monday December 16 at 7 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.
